Makongi recently introduced a Boran line into the farm. The Borans in Makongi was initially from the Solio herd and later from the Kruger herd during its disbursement. The Bulls used on the herd have been from the Delamere and the famous Gianni lines.
Owing to the rough grazing on the hills, our focus is on medium sized tough Borans that can put on weight under poor conditions. The borans are also used as surrogate mothers for the Indicus IVF – Emryo Transplant project and make excellent mothers.
